Mac Jones’ consistency will continue

The Patriots passing game hasn’t been dynamic, but it has been consistent. Mac Jones has been smart with the football. He’s completing 70 percent of his passes and has constantly put New England in position to win games.

The Patriots aren’t going to go deep very much. If you look at Jones’ passing charts through the first month of the season, that is the one common denominator. He doesn’t have a big arm, and the Patriots know that. Josh McDaniels isn’t going to ask him to throw the ball deep a whole lot, but they won’t need to against the Texans.

Houston’s defense is allowing the eighth most yards per offensive play. New England will gladly use the underneath passing game to methodically go up the field. While the Patriots don’t put up a ton of points offensively, the Texans have allowed the fifth most points in the league. As long as Jones protects the ball and the passing game is in a rhythm, putting up points shouldn’t be an issue. Getting to 24 points should get the job done for New England, and they have a quarterback who is capable of getting them there.
