Heavyweights Frank Sanchez and Efe Ajagba didn’t produce a pleasant fight, but Sanchez got away with a major foul that could have cost him the fight.

Most were hoping for fireworks between heavyweights Frank Sanchez and Efe Ajagba on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder 3, but most of the fight was muted.

However, round 7 almost produced a major shift in the fight.

Sanchez caught Ajagba with a right hand that hurt him. Ajagba was forced to take a knee. While on the canvas, Sanchez unloaded a massive left uppercut that caught Ajagba on the chin.

It’s a miracle that Sanchez’s punch didn’t knock out Ajagba. Somehow, Ajagba got to his feet. It’s outrageous that the referee didn’t take a point from Sanchez for his dangerously flagrant punch. If Ajagba was knocked out from the blow, the fight could have been ruled a disqualification victory for Ajagba.

That didn’t happen, and the fighting resumed without any more drama. Sanchez won via unanimous decision. He boxed circles around Ajagba for the win but needs to be smarter in the future. One punch could have cost him the fight.
