San Francisco dropped last week’s game to the Seattle Seahawks 28-21. In that game, starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a calf injury, and rookie Trey Lance played the entire second half. Lance was 9-of-18 with 157 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 41 yards on the ground. With Garoppolo not at practice today, Lance may be in line to start on Sunday.

He will have a tough task if he wants to knock off the red-hot Cardinals. Kyler Murray has planted his name among the early MVP favorites throwing for 1,273 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals defense has also been putting together quality performances.

While Arizona looks to remain unbeaten, San Francisco will need a victory to keep stride in the toughest division in football.
