The Chicago Bears earned a win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but it may not be a win in the long run for those in the fanbase that want change.

The Chicago Bears made the move from Andy Dalton to Justin Fields. While it was a rough first start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, it paid off in Week 4 in the form of a 24-14 win over the rival Detroit Lions. But the Bears faced a challenge on paper in Week 5, as they faced a Las Vegas Raiders team that has quite the electric offense. But, the Bears persevered, as they earned a far-from-pretty 20-9 win over the AFC West squad.

Now, the Bears have sole possession of second-place in the NFC North behind the Green Bay Packers (4-1) and ahead of the Minnesota Vikings (2-3) and Lions (0-5). While wins are no doubt what the Bears fanbase wants, those that want the team to make changes at general manager and head coach will not get that.

With each win, the chances of Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace getting retained increase.

Each Bears win means a greater chance Matt Nagy, Ryan Pace are retained

Nagy and Pace entered the 2021 league year on the hot seat after the team put up a lifeless effort in the Wild Card round against the New Orleans Saints. Pace made the aggressive effort in the first round of the NFL Draft by trading up with the New York Giants to select Fields with the 11th-overall pick. Meanwhile, Nagy had to find a way to get the Bears to bring the team back to their 2018 form.

On Sunday, Fields threw his first career touchdown pass to tight end Jesper Horsted in the second quarter. His day ended completing 11 of his 20 throws for 111 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. On the day, Chicago’s offense tallied 252 total yards on 60 plays.

Credit can be given to the work of Chicago’s defense, led by coordinator Sean Desai. Las Vegas entered Sunday averaging 406.5 yards of offense and 26.0 points per game. The Raiders could only muster 259 yards of offense and nine points on 60 plays.

If the Bears keep finding ways to win and make a push for the playoffs, fans can expect Nagy and Pace to return for 2022. Fields will look to lead the Bears to victory yet again when they play the rival Packers.

Next. It might be time for the Vikings to fire Mike Zimmer. dark
