Due to an ankle injury, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been ruled inactive and Alexander Mattison is all set to get the start in Week 5.

If the Minnesota Vikings are going to take down the Detroit Lions on Sunday, they’ll need to do so without star running back Dalvin Cook. Cook has been battling an ankle injury and was deemed a game-time decision for this one.

However, the team announced moments ago that Cook will not be ready to rock for this one. This means it’s go time for Alexander Mattison, as he’s all set to start going up against Detroit’s defense.

Alexander Mattison will get the start in place of the injured Dalvin Cook on Sunday

If you’re looking for someone to plug in at the last minute for your fantasy football lineups, Mattison very well could be a wise choice. He’s gotten plenty of work for Minnesota thus far this season, highlighted by his showing against the Seahawks.

In that contest on Sept. 26, a 30-17 win over Seattle, Mattison carried the ball 26 times for 112 yards. It was far and wide his best game of the season. Now, he’s all set to get the majority of the work going up against the Lions.

In last week’s loss to the Chicago Bears, Detroit’s run defense was abysmal, giving up three rushing scores. David Montgomery posted 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Damien Williams added 55 hashes and a touchdown himself. Now, Mattison will be ready to feast as well.
