Jimmy Johnson revealed he’d draft Justin Herbert over Patrick Mahomes right now and he couldn’t be more wrong with that assessment.

While things haven’t quite gone according to plan for the Kansas City Chiefs thus far this season, holding a 2-2 record, no one can argue Patrick Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Is he the best? If you ask countless folks out there, they’d say yes.

If you ask Jimmy Johnson, he’s not and Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert is among the guys ahead of him? Oh my. That’s what Johnson basically came out and said with his latest take that’s getting blasted on social media.

Both Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan have surely given Patrick Mahomes even more motivation

This is downright shocking. To make things even more head-turning, Hall-of-Famer Michael Strahan even went on to agree with Johnson that Herbert would be a better draft pick in current time over Mahomes. Fellas, what are we doing here?

While Herbert has impressed this season and even powered the Chargers to an upset win over the Chiefs in Kansas City this year, there’s simply no way that Herbert is ahead of Mahomes. The $502 million man has a Super Bowl ring to his name and has led his team to the big game in back-to-back years.

Despite their horrible defense, Kansas City will surely be in the hunt to win another Super Bowl later this year. Herbert is 23 years old and Mahomes is 26, so it’s not like age is a huge factor in Johnson’s thought process here.

Did Johnson not watch Mahomes light up the Eagles last week for five touchdowns? Has he missed him making unreal plays left and right like usual this season? Sure, Herbert is one hell of a QB and has a bright future.

But better than Mahomes? Get real, Mr. Johnson.
