Texas A&M football legend Johnny Manziel was on hand to watch his Aggies deliver a major upset over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

When it comes to Texas A&M football, almost no name brings back so many exciting memories on the field than former quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Nicknamed “Johnny Football,” the highlight reel quarterback brought spotlight and flash to Kyle Field, including the memory of going into Tuscaloosa in 2012 and beating the Alabama Crimson Tide.

So, when the Aggies accomplished the same feat with a 51-48 victory on Saturday, Manziel undoubtedly joined in the fun, giving props to quarterback Zach Calzada, who also earned the distinction of being a quarterback that has defeated Alabama.

While Calzada defeated Alabama as a sophomore, Manziel accomplished the feat as a freshman, making it all the more impressive given how it led to him winning the Heisman Trophy.

No one is expecting Heisman results for Calzada, but then again the result he delivered to Aggies fans is one that will last just as long as memories of Manziel’s Heisman triumph.

Calzada’s performance featured 285 passing yards and three touchdowns with an interception along with 12 yards rushing. In 2012, Manziel threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 92 yards in a 29-24 victory. While the Tide went on to win the national title, this was the only blemish on their season.

It’s still very possible that the Tide will go on to win the title again this year, but once again their perfect record would have an Aggies-sized blemish on it.
