Leading up to their Game 4 tilt with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves have removed Jorge Soler from the NLDS roster after he tested positive for COVID.

Just hours before the Atlanta Braves try and put the finishing touches on the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS, some concerning news has come in on outfielder Jorge Soler. On Tuesday, the team announced Soler has tested positive for COVID-19.

Because of this, Soler has been removed from the club’s NLDS roster. He has been replaced by fellow outfielder Cristian Pache.

Jorge Soler won’t be eligible to return for the Braves until the World Series should they make it that far

Obviously, this is a big-time bummer for manager Brian Snitker and his staff. Soler, the team’s starting right fielder, was all set to hit leadoff in Game 4 against the Brewers. With Soler now out of the lineup, Dansby Swanson will start things off for Atlanta at the dish, while Joc Pederson is getting the nod out in right.

Solder was a midseason acquisition for the Braves, making his way over from the Kansas City Royals. During the regular season with Atlanta, the veteran outfielder hit .269 with 14 homers and 33 RBI.

He had struggled at the dish in the NLDS thus far, going just 1-for-11 against Milwaukee. With him now being placed on the COVID-19 list, Soler won’t be eligible to return to the team for the NLCS if they end up getting past the Brewers. With that said, should the Braves make it to the World Series, Soler could then make his way back on the roster.

Atlanta will hope to take care of business on Tuesday and punch their tickets to face either the Dodgers or Giants in the NLCS. Soler will unfortunately have to catch the action from home.
