Acuña Jr., who is a native of La Guaira, Venezuela, shared his excitement with fans in Spanish on his Instagram Live broadcast.
Acuña Jr. is believed to repeatedly say “por su casa”, a derivation of the Spanish phrase “como Pedro por su casa.” The expression loosely translates to “like [someone] in their house”, which describes someone who acts with confidence and ease no matter the situation. Essentially, Acuña Jr. wanted to make sure the Brewers know they were owned by the Braves in the final inning.
Acuña Jr. cheered from the comfort of his home because the Braves’ arguably best player is still recovering from an ACL tear. Acuña Jr. sustained the excruciating injury while leaping for a ball in a July 11 game against the Miami Marlins. Acuña Jr. suffered a complete tear in his right knee, which sidelined him for the season.
While the Braves are familiar with the NLCS playoff level — they made it all the way there in 2020 before losing 3-4 to the Los Angeles Dodgers — the Brewers were slight favorites before the NLDS games.
The 2021 postseason marks the Braves’ fourth straight NL East title and another NLCS trip to follow their 2020 appearance.
