The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ cornerback depth chart took a huge hit during Thursday night football against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The last thing the Tampa bay Buccaneers needed was for another one of their cornerbacks to go down with an injury. Unfortunately for them, that happened on Thursday night.

In the first quarter, Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman was spotted walking on the sidelines towards the locker room. A couple of minutes later, the veteran corner was ruled out for the remainder of the game by the team due to a hamstring injury.

Sherman signed with the defending Super Bowl champions on Sept. 29.

Richard Sherman ruled out of Week 6 game due to hamstring injury

The Buccaneers were already not having the greatest luck in terms of injuries, especially in the secondary.

In their season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Sean Murphy-Bunting suffered a dislocated elbow and was placed on the injured reserve. Earlier this month, Carlton Davis III was placed on the IR as well after he suffered a quad injury in Week 4 against the New England Patriots, which will sideline him between 4-6 weeks. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. suffered a concussion in Week 4 and missed the following two games.

In addition to their depleted secondary, the Buccaneers were without starting middle linebacker Lavonte David due to a low ankle sprain.

Entering Thursday night, Sherman recorded 10 total tackles and one fumble recovery through two games. Sherman allowed 11 receptions for 139 yards on 14 targets, per Pro Football Reference.

With Sherman ruled out almost instantaneously, it is certainly a cause for concern. We will continue to keep you posted on the severity of Sherman’s hamstring injury once details are provided by the team.
