We’re not sure what kind of Halloween witchcraft they’re up to in Boston, but Kiké Hernandez is surely in on it.

Hernandez all but saved Chris Sale in the bottom of the second, as the Astros had the bases loaded with one out and failed to score a run. Chris Sale struck out Jose Altuve, and then Kiké ended the inning with a sprawling catch.

As Dusty Baker pointed out in the live broadcast, it seems to happen quite often that the player who makes such an electric catch is up the next inning. It’s rare, however, that said player continues that momentum on his own.

Hernandez delivered a blast to tie the game in the top of the third.

Kiké Hernandez home run distance: How far did it go?

Hernandez’s home run looked for a minute like it might break through the Minute Maid Park roof. It went 448 feet.

There were plenty more where that came from.

Hernandez has been red hot of late, and don’t expect that to change with the way the last inning has gone. Boston’s run, at this point, is borderline incredible. From struggling to get into the Wild Card game to pushing around the Astros in the ALCS — no one saw this coming.
