5 potential transfer destinations for Florida quarterback Emory Jones

With Anthony Richardson taking over vs. LSU, it might be the end of the road for Emory Jones at Florida.

As long as Anthony Richardson is healthy, the Florida football team should have him be the starting quarterback and not Emory Jones.

While Jones bided his time behind Feleipe Franks and then Kyle Trask in Gainesville, he did not exactly run away with the job in his first year as the starter. Though Richardson is a much rawer player, he offers a higher upside and a less-defined ceiling at the quarterback position over Jones. So with as much as two years of eligibility remaining, Jones could look to transfer this offseason for his final season.

If Jones were to leave the Gators football program, he did draw interest from several other notable Power Five teams coming out of high school. These five make the most sense for him right now.

Playing time would be available at Virginia Tech, but Justin Fuente could be gone

One team to keep an eye on if Jones does enter the transfer portal would be the Virginia Tech Hokies. While they are not exactly firing on all cylinders under head coach Justin Fuente, this is one of the programs that did recruit Jones heavily out of high school. Fuente is not afraid to play a transfer, but it is highly debatable if he will even get another season at the helm in Blacksburg.

This would be incredibly ironic to do the reverse Dan Mullen and go to Starkville

Jones could potentially do the reverse Dan Mullen and go from Gainesville to Starkville. While it remains to be seen if Jones is really an Air Raid type of passer, he would be an incredibly talented piece Mike Leach would be gaining in his offense. Though Will Rogers seems to be the guy in place at Mississippi State, this is one of the better landing spots for Jones if he were to stick in the SEC.
