LSU football: Is Max Johnson related to Brad Johnson?

LSU football quarterback Max Johnson may look familiar to some. That’s because he’s the son of former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson.

Max Johnson’s surname isn’t exactly unique. His parentage is.

If you watched Max play for LSU football and wondered why he looked somewhat familiar, there’s a good reason.

The Tigers quarterback is the son of Brad Johnson, who led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory in 2003.

The elder Johnson played in the NFL for 15 seasons, winning that aforementioned championship while picking up two Pro Bowl nods along the way. He was drafted by the Vikings, playing for them in two stints while also suiting up for Washington and Dallas.

Brad played college football for Florida State but it looks like two of his sons will end up at LSU. Max’s brother Jake a four-star tight end committed to join the Tigers in the class of 2022.

Max Johnson finished the 2020 season in part-time action with 1,069 yards, eight touchdowns and just one interception while leading the Tigers to an upset victory over Florida.

After six weeks in 2021, Johnson had 1,729 yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions.
