LSU football pulled off a monster upset over Florida in Death Valley and the Tigers Twitter account didn’t miss the opportunity for the perfect troll job.

Based on what the LSU Tigers had looked like of late, there weren’t many people in favor of the team as they welcomed a talented Florida team to Death Valley on Saturday afternoon — especially for an early kickoff in Baton Rouge. LSU football didn’t care.

In a game that was truly thrilling in a back-and-forth shootout, the Tigers came up with a monster victory, punctuated by a late interception that sealed the 49-42 win.

So, naturally, the age of college football teams trolling one another on social media, Twitter in particular, added another chapter thanks to LSU football.

Look at the LSU football Twitter account just trolling Florida to shreds

Sing your Tom Petty, Gators fans — LSU football has this in their holster:

The tweet, of course, is in reference to the fact that Florida fans sing Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” at home games as one of the school’s traditions. Just masterful work from the LSU Twitter account to bring that to the forefront and just show no mercy.

While the trolling is hilarious, the fact of the matter is that this is a huge win for the SEC. Florida now has three losses and is completely out of the mix in the East division. While LSU doesn’t have hopes of anything for the postseason either, you have to wonder if this will save head coach Ed Orgeron’s job.

All told, though, a good troll job is always a great way to add insult to an upset win.
