Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered an injury on the final play of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

The Dallas Cowboys and their fanbase were on cloud nine after the team secured a 35-29 victory over the New England Patriots in overtime. That occurred following quarterback Dak Prescott’s 35-yard touchdown pass to second-year wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. While that was good, there was some bad that occurred on that play.

Following the game, it was revealed that Prescott suffered a right calf strain and would be evaluated further on Monday. Prescott was spotted wearing a protective boot on his right leg during his postgame press conference, saying that he “came down funny” after making the throw to Lamb, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Dak Prescott’s calf strain will be evaluated on Monday

Even though he is wearing a boot on his right leg, Prescott expressed confidence that he will be fine.

Luckily for the Cowboys, they will not need to worry about Prescott’s status for next week, since the team is on a bye. That is a definite benefit for Dallas, especially if the strain is determined to be minor following the evaluation. Still, Cowboys fans are going to be nervous until they read an update on Prescott’s right calf.

Prescott missed the majority of last season due to a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle. Ever since making his return, Prescott has played at an MVP-caliber level. That was evident on Sunday, as he completed 36-of-51 pass attempts for 445 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. That yardage is the most surrendered by a Bill Belichick-Patriots team in history, per ESPN Stats and Info.

We will continue to keep you updated on the severity of Prescott’s strain once details are provided on Monday.
