College football power rankings of the five best games to watch on the Week 8 schedule.

While there is not a truly massive game on the college football schedule, the Week 8 slate does offer a handful of intriguing conference rivalry games you are not going to want to miss out on.

What Week 7 reaffirmed is that anybody can beat anybody at any given time. Who saw the No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes losing at Kinnick to the Purdue Boilermakers? Even Tennessee came with a throw before garbage time took over of knocking off favored Ole Miss in Rocky Top. As for what games to watch this weekend, here are the five best games on the college schedule this Saturday.

Expect at least one, or possibly all five, of these games living up to the early-week hype.

College football: 5 best games on the Week 8 schedule

5. Games of the week: USC Trojans (3-3) at No. 13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1)

The major rivalry between the USC Trojans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is always compelling television, even if one of the teams playing for the Jeweled Shillelagh is not the least bit good. USC has already fired former head coach Clay Helton before the weather changed. While Brian Kelly has his Notre Dame program humming, anything can happen in a night game up in South Bend.

4. Games of the week: LSU Tigers (4-3) at No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels (5-1)

This year’s installment of the Magnolia Bowl between the LSU Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels is intriguing for a few reasons. Not only will this be the last time Ed Orgeron coaches in the Magnolia Bowl on either side, but his coaching friend Lane Kiffin is a candidate to replace him in Baton Rouge. With the Rebels in the mix to get to Atlanta this year, they have to win this one at home.

While these two games should be fun, these other three are the ones with way more at stake.
