Oklahoma football fans are calling for Lincoln Riley’s job on message boards after a close call in Lawrence vs. the lowly Kansas Jayhawks.

There are plenty of Oklahoma football fans getting big mad on the message boards about Lincoln Riley and the Sooners’ narrow victory over the awful Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence.

Oklahoma may have outlasted Lance Leipold’s team 35-23, but some Sooner diehards are ripping Riley and his program to shreds over this. They are drawing a direct correlation to players wearing headbands and fingernail polish to almost being upset by Kansas. Despite the Sooners being 8-0 for the first time since 2004, they want to fire Riley into the sun over this game. They are furious!

While Oklahoma may be one of the four best jobs in college football, who are the Sooners going to get to replace him? Riley is one of the most innovative offensive minds in the game today. He has thoroughly dominated the Big 12 since coming over from East Carolina in the earliest days of the playoff. Though the SEC is on the horizon, chasing him out of Norman would be a mistake.

Oklahoma has its entire season ahead of it. Nothing has come easy for this team, but the Sooners are 8-0 and could make the College Football Playoff for the fifth time in school history. Of course, the Pokes could be a challenge in Bedlam this year. The winner of that game will be in the driver’s seat heading into the conference title bout. Without Riley, Oklahoma does not stand a chance.

There is only one solution to solve bandana and fingernail polish criticism: Just win on Saturday.
