Oklahoma on upset alert vs. Kansas may bench Caleb Williams for Spencer Rattler
Could Spencer Rattler get his job back at Oklahoma with the Sooners struggling against the Kansas Jayhawks?
The Caleb Williams era could already be over and Spencer Rattler could be getting a shot to reclaim his starting quarterback job.
The Sooners trail the Kansas Jayhawks 10-0 at halftime in Lawrence.
Williams is 6-of-9 passing for 71 yards and has an interception. It was his first interception of the season, but could Lincoln Riley have a quick hook and go back to Spencer Rattler if the Sooners continue to struggle?
Oklahoma may need to bench Caleb Williams and go back to Spencer Rattler?
Kansas hasn’t beaten a Big 12 foe since 2019 and has lost 16 straight against Oklahoma, so this would be an upset of titanic proportions, but there is still a lot of football left. Also, a 10-point deficit isn’t all that daunting for an Oklahoma team that hasn’t been a stranger to overcoming deficits this year.
Of course, as the No. 3 team in the nation, they are expected to be blowing out Kansas at this juncture of the game. Robert Griffin III is on the call for the ESPN game and said it looks like they’re sleepwalking. The sideline shows a lack of energy and a lack of emotion and sense of urgency.
If Oklahoma needs a spark that could come from Rattler, the preseason Heisman favorite, who was benched against Texas when Williams orchestrated a 21-point comeback in the win.
Perhaps Rattler can do what Williams did and regain his job for the rest of the year?
