Evan Holyfield, son of Evander Holyfield, thrilled fans at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA, with a round 2 knockout of Charles Stanford.

They say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and Evan Holyfield stayed true to the adage with a colossal round 2 knockout of Charles Stanford.

Holyfield (8-0, 6 KOs) is the 24-year-old son of former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield. He flashed the same knockout power as his father on Oct. 23 on the undercard of Jamel Herring vs. Shakur Stevenson.

Holyfield is a promising super welterweight who remained undefeated in fantastic fashion. His opponent Stanford (6-4,3 KOs), didn’t come into the fight with an impressive record, but Holyfield is still building his résumé and gaining experience as a boxer.

At 6-foot-2, Holyfield towered over the 5-foot-9 Stanford. Holyfield set the tone early by out-landing Stanford 26 punches to 17, according to CompuBox statistics.

Holyfield didn’t need to put in much more work in round 2. He connected with four punches. It was the last two that ended Stanford’s night. A Holyfield left hook stunned Stanford, and he followed it with a right hook that landed flush on Stanford’s temple.

Stanford fell back in a heap and appeared to be momentarily unconscious. He started to roll around on the canvas, but he didn’t stand a prayer of getting up before the count of 10. The referee didn’t bother with starting the count. He waved the fight off immediately after Stanford went down.

Who knows if Holyfield will ever reach the same greatness as his father. It’s truly an unfair expectation, but whatever happens down the line for the young man, he scored one heck of a knockout in front of the fans at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA. The crowd showered him with cheers as they let Holyfield know that he made their night.
