3. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 8 – New York Giants WR Darius Slayton

Things haven’t been pretty for New York football fans this season but the Giants did find a way to pick up a dominant home win against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. One key player to the effort was wide receiver Darius Slayton, who caught 5-of-9 targets for 63 yards in the victory.

The Giants have seen their wide receiving corps decimated by injuries as Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney were all inactive against the Panthers. Slayton was the de facto no. 1 receiver for Daniel Jones, who only targeted Evan Engram more often than Slayton on Sunday.

Jones has always had good chemistry with Slayton, who drew a combined 13 targets in his first two games of the season before getting injured in Week 3. Slayton is healthy now and figures to remain heavily involved in New York’s Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, where game flow figures to work in Slayton’s favor.

Fantasy owners will have plenty of opportunity to scoop up Slayton, who is rostered in just 15 percent of Yahoo leagues at this point. With plenty of garbage time coming in a must-win game for the Chiefs, Slayton could be a viable WR3 or flex option in Week 8 even if some of the Giants’ injured receivers return.
