New York Giants: Steelers’ LB Robert Spillane

The New York Giants suffered a major blow to their defense when inside linebacker Blake Martinez suffered a season-ending injury, and since then they’ve used a Reggie Ragland-Tae Crowder duo to try to replace him. That duo has been far from inspiring so far for the Giants, as the middle of their defense is constantly exploitable.

The Steelers have a solid linebacking duo with Devin Bush and Joe Schobert, but they have continued to use Spillane in their dime packages. He’s obviously performing at a high level if he’s stealing snaps from Bush and Schobert, so the Giants would be acquiring a solid linebacker.

Ragland is not an ideal starter for the middle of your defense, but he’s a solid depth piece. Bringing Spillane in to man the middle of the field will vastly improve the Giants’ defense.
