Atlanta Braves hurler Charlie Morton underwent surgery on Friday morning and he’s already focused on the 2022 campaign.

It goes without saying, but hearts remain broken for Atlanta Braves star pitcher Charlie Morton. In Game 1 of the World Series, the hard-throwing righty broke his leg in a freak accident in the middle of the action.

Well, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Morton underwent surgery on Friday morning and things went smoothly. The operation went so well, that Morton is expected to be ready to rock once spring training arrives in 2022.

Charlie Morton will be ready to bounce back in 2022

This is obviously tremendous news for the Braves and manager Brian Snitker. When healthy, Morton is an absolute force on the mound. You’ve really got to feel bad for him after he suffered this injury, though.

Morton was looking downright dominant against the Astros in Game 1. Then, truly out of nowhere, he suffered his broken leg, yet somehow managed to keep pitching through the pain. That’s unreal and shows he’s tough as nails.

He’s understandably bummed that he’s out for the rest of the year, but you already know he’s cheering on his teammates with plenty of passion. The World Series is tied up at 1-1 with Game 3 right around the corner.

The Braves remain underdogs, but they’ve gone on to fool plenty of folks throughout the fall. They’re hoping to do so one last time and win it all for the first time since 1995. While Morton won’t be on the hill to try and make that happen, he’s got faith in his team. Off the field, he’ll get to his rehab as soon as possible and make sure that he’s indeed ready to roll for ’22. Braves fans can’t wait to see him back in the mix.
