The Panthers are willing to put all their chips on the table in a trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, per reports.

Now, whether Watson is worth such an offer is up for debate, as the Houston Texans quarterback still has dozens of civil suits against him that could derail his season, and lead to suspension by the NFL and, most importantly, legal action.

Nonetheless, the Carolina Panthers appear to be one of the teams willing to make a trade offer for Watson. It’s been rumored that the Miami Dolphins are Watson’s preferred destination.

So, what could the Texans get for Watson? There’s virtually no way he’s coming back to Houston.

Panthers willing to trade Christian McCaffrey

McCaffrey is a big name, but at the end of the day, trading any running back for a quarterback as impactful as Watson is a solid deal. Watson’s legal issues, of course, make this a much tougher conversation.

The following is per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:

"“League sources said the Panthers are willing to part with three high picks and All Pro running back Christian McCaffrey in a package for Watson; the Texans are very high on several of the Panthers’ young defensive standouts (still on their rookie contracts and younger and cheaper than McCaffrey), and the sides have yet to reach a compromise.”"

When healthy, Watson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. But a team cannot reliably trade for him at this moment, and with the trade deadline coming up quickly, the Texans will have to take less than his full worth if they’re to get anything for him at this juncture.
