Alabama football coach Nick Saban turns 70 on Halloween and he knows exactly what it is he’d like for a present.

Nick Saban shares his birthday with Halloween. This year, Saban won’t have a game to coach with Alabama having an open week, so he may have some time to go trick-or-treating.

Well, actually, don’t count on that happening. Saban will likely be in the office grinding away at the tape and preparing the game plan for next weekend’s game.

That’s just what he does and how he’s managed to be the most successful and accomplished college football coach of all time.

But surely Saban wants to have some time to reflect on the last year and have a piece of birthday cake, right?

What does Nick Saban want for his birthday?

When asked what he wants for his birthday, Saban gave an answer that’s perfectly in line with how he’s wired. He didn’t want any gifts. He didn’t say he wanted a new tie or anything you’d get the 70-year-old man in your life.

Simply put, Saban said if he wants something, he’s gonna go out and get it.

If this isn’t a message to his football team that still controls its destiny after an October loss to Texas A&M, you’re tricking yourself.

The master motivator used his birthday as a message for his team to run the table, win the SEC and get back to the playoff and try to repeat as national champions.

It’s also a nod to the millions he’s banked over his career. Why wait to be gifted something when you can just go out and buy it yourself, right?

That said, if you want to give Saban a birthday present, give him a box of Little Debbie oatmeal cream pies.
