College football fans love Lee Corso on GameDay. However, many are wondering if the ESPN icon should call it quits after another awkward appearance.

Lee Corso is College GameDay. He’s a beloved icon. He’s also starting to worry people.

The former coach had a stroke in 2009 and he has admirably fought back from partial paralysis and loss of speech to continue on-air for more than a decade.

Corso is 86 years old. While it’s great to see him out there making headgear picks and being utterly lovable, it’s also sad.

College football fans think Lee Corso should retire

Even without the major health concern, Corso is well past retirement age. He’s continued to entertain fans, but he’s also not what he once was. There’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone ages. However, everyone will also have a day when they have to admit it’s time to call it quits.

Out of love, college football fans want to see Corso hang up his boots.

College football fans have loved Corso for decades. They just want what’s best for him. Comments about his current state are almost exclusively penned with adoration.

Watching Corso now is like watching an aging superstar continue to play when their body clearly doesn’t have anything left.

Corso will go down as one of the great college football figures. When he decides to step away, it’ll be bittersweet.
