Florida football legend Steve Spurrier puts it incredibly blunt on why the Gators are struggling this season.
Leave it up to the Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier to provide the college football world some hard-hitting insight as to why his beloved Florida football team is on the precipice of being 4-4.
Florida may have played Alabama tough weeks ago, but the narrow defeat has been compounded by losses to Kentucky and LSU. The Gators face the rival Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville on Saturday and will need to play a perfect game to beat the Dawgs in this one. As for why Florida has not lived up to lofty expectations, Spurrier offered, “Well, we don’t tackle very well.”
Spurrier is spot-on in that Todd Grantham’s defense has been a big issue for the Gators this year.

Frankly, this has been a multi-year issues within the Florida program. While the offense was electrifying a season ago, it was not like the defense was anything to write home about. With so many great players on the offensive side of the ball turning pro after last year, a regression was expected in that department. However, it has only been compounded by the bad defense, too.
If Florida continues to be bad at tackling, the Gators have no chance of beating No. 1 Georgia.
