Which was the last team to clinch World Series at home?
MLB teams haven’t had much luck clinching the World Series at home recently. It’s been seven years since anyone managed to do it.
There has got to be nothing quite like winning a World Series in front of your home fans.
Unfortunately, baseball hasn’t produced those kinds of scenes in quite a long time.
When was the last time an MLB team clinched the World Series at home? It hasn’t happened since 2013.
The Red Sox were the last team to clinch the World Series at home
The Boston Red Sox were the last ones to win the title in their home park. They did it by beating the Cardinals in Game 6 at Fenway.
Since then, the Giants, Royals, Cubs, Astros, Red Sox, Nationals and Dodgers have all had to win it on the road.
The 2020 World Series was a special case though. Los Angeles was technically the home team when they won Game 6 at Globe Life Field in Arlington. However, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the MLB playoffs being played in a bubble, so there was no chance of either team clinching at home.
Winning the championship is the ultimate goal, but doing it at home definitely would have made that moment a tad sweeter.
