The Dallas Cowboys are 6-1, and quarterback Dak Prescott might be coming back for Week 9 against the Denver Broncos.

Dak Prescott watched from the sidelines on Sunday night as Cooper Rush won a game for the Dallas Cowboys. Exciting as that was, Prescott is hoping to be on the field come Week 9.

Prescott, who missed the game against the Minnesota Vikings with a calf injury, was almost activated before deciding to shut it down. With another week before Dallas welcomes in the Denver Broncos, the Cowboys’ star quarterback is hoping his absence will only be for one game.

The Cowboys are hopeful Dak Prescott returns vs. Broncos

While Dallas, Prescott and their fans would love to see No. 4 running onto the field Sunday, there’s really no rush. The Cowboys are pulling away in the lousy NFC East, 2.5 games ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and even further out in front of the Washington Football Team and New York Giants.

Furthermore, there’s reason to believe Rush could win another game if need be. Making his first NFL start, Rush threw for 325 yards and directed a comeback victory over Minnesota on the road. While Denver has some notable defensive players, the Broncos aren’t the caliber of the Vikings, and this game is in Dallas.

Still, the goal is getting Prescott right in time for the affair. To this point, Prescott has thrown for 1,813 yards with 16 touchdowns against four interceptions, helping the Cowboys to become legitimate contenders in the NFC.

For Dallas, this year might represent its best shot to make the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1995.
