10 TE sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 9
By Jakob Ashlin
6. Albert Okwuegbunam, Denver Broncos
Rostered: 1.7%
On Tuesday, Noah Fant was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. If he produces two negative tests 24 hours apart before Sunday, Fant could play.
If Fant remains out, Albert Okwuegbunam should step into a larger role on Sunday against a vulnerable Cowboys’ defense.
It is worth noting that Okwuegbunam is listed as questionable with a knee injury, and he was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday.
Fantasy owners should monitor the statuses of both Fant and Okwuegbunam this weekend.
5. Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Rostered: 24.3%
Pat Freiermuth has seen a steep rise in production over his past two games. Freiermuth had a total of 27.0 fantasy points in his first five games; over his past two games, he has eclipsed that number with a total of 27.2 fantasy points.
A significant increase in targets has been the biggest difference for Freiermuth. He was targeted 13 times in the first five games. Now, he has been targeted 14 times in the last two games.
His increased usage is likely not a fluke, as the Steelers want the second-round pick to become a key contributor in the passing game.
He has TE1 potential for the remainder of the season.
