The NHL world as a whole was flipped upside down on Thursday with the Buffalo Sabres trading standout center Jack Eichel to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

The playing days of star center Jack Eichel with the Buffalo Sabres have come to a close. It’s been no secret that Eichel and Buffalo have had their issues, with Eichel and the Sabres at odds over his neck injury.

With that said, the Vegas Golden Knights went out and put a blockbuster deal on the table and they’ve landed their guy. This news has truly rocked the NHL community and fans are most definitely losing their minds about things on social media.

Jack Eichel trade is one of the biggest NHL stories of the year

When you take a look at Twitter, folks really couldn’t believe this went down. As part of the deal, the Knights sent over forwards Peyton Krebs and Alex Tuch to Buffalo, plus a 2022 first-round pick.

It’s clear that Buffalo fans were not happy whatsoever with Eichel here. Normally when a player is traded or leaves town, he thanks his former squad for the good memories and shows love to the people who supported him. The fact that Eichel couldn’t wait to show the world him donning a Vegas jersey lets you know just how badly he wanted out of town.

On the other side of things, hockey fans in Sin City couldn’t be more fired up right now about Eichel joining the roster. At just 25 years old, he’s got quite the future ahead of him. He’s all set to undergo surgery soon, but then he’ll be jacked up to start making plays for Vegas as soon as possible.
