Yes, Alabama football has a player named Kool-Aid
Alabama football has dominated the college football world for several years, so much so that they even have the best name in the sport on the roster too.
Sometimes when college football fans are watching a broadcast, there is a moment where they double-take at the TV and think, there’s no way I heard that name right. But if you’re watching Alabama football and hear the name Kool-Aid McKinstry, you indeed heard it right.
The Crimson Tide have a freshman cornerback named Kool-Aid on the roster that has carved out a role in the team’s secondary throughout the season. That shouldn’t be surprising given that he came to the Alabama football program as a 5-star recruit and one of the best prospects in the 2021 class.
But this all begs the question: Is that his actual name?
Is Kool-Aid McKinstry his real name?
Though it would be even more of an all-time great college football name, Kool-Aid is just a nickname that the Alabama cornerback goes by.
His real name is Ga’Quincy McKinstry, which is what he was known as prior to arriving in Tuscaloosa and joining the Crimson Tide.
Even so, the move to going by Kool-Aid has been a profitable one for McKinstry. After the NIL rules were passed, the freshman cornerback signed one of the most high-profile deals in the country with the drink company, which was obviously a match made in heaven.
