Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant have weighed in and are ready for a battle on Saturday, Nov. 6. The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, hosts another dynamic boxing event with vast implications for the super middleweight division.
Since turning professional in 2005, Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) has soared to the top of boxing’s pound-for-pound list. He’s the sport’s most popular fighter, and he proved that by packing the Grand Garden Arena with his fans a day before the fight during the weigh-in. Expect Alvarez’s enormous following to show up en masse.
Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) lacks Alvarez’s experience and résumé, but the 29-year-old from Ashland City, TN, will try to match Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the only other boxer to defeat Alvarez. The odds are stacked against Plant, but the IBF champion could surprise people and rise to the occasion.
Alvarez and Plant greatly dislike each other. Their altercation during their first press conference proved that, but the ongoing bad blood helps spice up this matchup. Alvarez has the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles, and the winner becomes the undisputed super middleweight champion.
Athletes and celebrities will be out in force to catch this matchup. So will FanSided, who’s covering the action live from Vegas. Anything can happen in boxing, especially with such a massive event.
