The dubious dishonor of having the longest losing streak in college football belongs to UNLV football, which hasn’t won a game since 2019.

It took 762 days for the Arizona Wildcats to win a game of football but they finally did it.

Arizona broke through for a victory over Cal to end their 20-game losing streak, prompting a field rush from their elated fans.

Those fans or players definitely didn’t care that the Golden Bears were down 24 players because of COVID-19 health and safety restrictions. A win is a win, especially for a team that hasn’t tasted victory in so long.

It’s been a long wait for the Wildcats, who no longer own the longest active losing streak in the nation. Who just inherited it?

Who has the longest losing streak in college football?

UNLV has gone 14 games without a victory. That streak extends back to Nov. 30, 2019 when they bested Nevada in overtime. They haven’t won since.

In 2021, the Rebels are 0-8. They came full circle with a loss to Nevada on Oct. 29.

What is the longest losing streak in college football history?

Arizona’s 20-game stretch of defeats was bad, but it wasn’t the worst ever in Division I college football. That distinction goes to Northwestern. The Wildcats lost 34 games in a row from 1979 to 1982.

It’ll be tough to challenge that one but UNLV is now the closest to it.
