Jake Paul roasts Tommy Fury with harsh poem at press conference
Jake Paul promoted his Dec. 18 Showtime bout without Tommy Fury in attendance. He hit below the belt with a poem that got personal.
Jake Paul, A.K.A ‘The Problem Child’ is set to fight Tommy Fury, younger brother of Tyson Fury, on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL, on Showtime. He was supposed to have a kickoff press conference with Tommy Fury but had to fly solo. He took full advantage of the spotlight.
FanSided learned that Fury had to return home due to a family medical emergency. His mother is ailing, and it was serious enough that he had to go home. Fury’s trainer SugarHill Steward fielded questions for Fury.
Steward is also Tyson Fury’s boxing trainer and helped engineer the game plan for Fury’s two stoppage victories over Deontay Wilder. The younger Fury is nowhere near big brother Tyson in terms of skill and talent, but he’s a popular figure from a fighting family.
With Tommy Fury absent, Jake Paul took the stage to instigate bad blood with his Dec. 18 opponent
Paul used his platform to answer questions and play to the media. He brought out comedian/social media star Druski as his new trainer in jest. It was Paul’s way of making fun of Fury for retaining the services of Steward.
The stunt was more awkward than funny, but Paul’s ending poem took several very personal digs at Fury.
Paul made jabs at Fury’s absence, boxers in general, and Fury’s sexuality in a minute and a half long poem.
“One girl whispers, ‘There goes Tommy Fury and his pretty green eyes.’ Her friend replies, ‘Yes, it is true, but he prefers to kiss guys,'” read Paul.
Paul wasn’t done with his roast of Fury. He also made cracks about Fury’s legs, drug use, girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, and implied Fury is unfaithful in his relationship.
If this fight wasn’t personal, it sure is now. Paul made sure of that in a crude way befitting his brand.
