Ole Miss football Twitter gave masterclass in trolling Hugh Freeze after Liberty win
By Ethan Lee
The official Ole Miss Rebels Twitter account had plenty of fun with the way the Rebels beat Hugh Freeze and Liberty on Saturday.
Hugh Freeze’s tenure as the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels was highlighted with spectacular wins and then underlined with weird scandals. It was a tumultuous time for the folks in Oxford and, when considering the way that era ended, it’s not a surprise that some at Ole Miss would like to poke fun at Freeze.
Turns out the folks in the Ole Miss athletic department were more than excited to take a few shots at the former head coach of the Rebels.

In addition to joking about Freeze’s use of the phrase “Win The Day” (which Oregon popularized) and his coaching Liberty from a hospital bed and a dental chair, Ole Miss also decided to mock Freeze’s infamous compliance tweet.
What’s the history behind that famed “compliance tweet?” Well, it dates back to Freeze’s time at Ole Miss. He challenged and empowered seemingly everybody to go out and start sharing evidence about possible Ole Miss recruiting infractions. Freeze made many decisions that could be described as “ill-advised” and this one is certainly one of the worst in that regard.
With the way the NCAA was invested in digging into Ole Miss for the way the Rebels were going around the rules, crowdsourcing an investigation against your own program seems like an incredibly bad idea.
