The Dallas Cowboys were thoroughly embarrassed by the Denver Broncos, and Jerry Jones has some thoughts.

It was a Sunday full of stunning upsets in the NFL, but few hit harder than what happened to the Dallas Cowboys.

Buffalo losing to the Jaguars was unbelievable but the game was tight the entire way through. Down in Dallas, the Cowboys were almost blanked by the Denver Broncos — at home and after a week in which the national media spend so many hours of programming talking about their Super Bowl chances.

Dallas not only losing to the Broncos but losing the way it did was nothing short of embarrassing. It was a thorough ass kicking, the kind that historically has drawn the ire of owner Jerry Jones.

After the game, Jones didn’t waste anytime reacting to the loss but he didn’t have the type of fire-and-brimstone response fans might have been feeling.

Jerry Jones had a perfect reaction to Cowboys loss to Broncos

“I thought they had a good plan against Dak and executed it well. We needed some plays to happen. Certainly it’s inexplicable,” Jones said to reporters after the loss. “They played an outstanding football game against what we think is a good football team, and that’s the Dallas Cowboys.”

On the other hand, Cowboys fans likely won’t be happy with Mike McCarthy’s response after the loss.

“Frankly, we were outcoached and outplayed all the way through,” McCarthy said after the game.

He’s not wrong, but if there’s someone Cowboys fans are going to get angry at it’s McCarthy.

As much as it hurt to watch, Dallas could afford the loss — and might have needed it. The way the Cowboys got eviscerated by the Broncos on Sunday is the type of loss that forces a team that was maybe getting a little full of itself to refocus. Better to have that sort of humbling in November than come to that realization in January.
