Mac Jones will turn the ball over

Much like the Browns, New England didn’t ask Jones to do much in their win over the Panthers. The rookie out of Alabama went just 12-18 for 139 yards with a touchdown and an interception to former Patriot Stephon Gilmore. You could make the argument that Jones and Mayfield are similar at this level. Neither have big arms, and their teams are much more successful when they take more of a game-manager role.

The Browns defense is a unit that is filled with stars. It’s a given that Myles Garrett is going to be disruptive. The Patriots just need to keep that number as low as possible to keep Jones composed. Even then, the Browns are playing very well defensively. Denzel Ward is fresh off a 100 yard pick six against the Bengals, and the Browns currently have the third best rush defense in the league.

The lack of star power in the Patriots backfield will force them to pass more than they would like, which will lead to Jones making at least one mistake, perhaps multiple. If the Browns can force turnovers and capitalize on them, they will be the team that leaves Gillette Stadium with the win.
