AEW Full Gear 2021 start time, full match card, and live stream info.

The last AEW pay-per-view of the year goes down this Saturday from the Target Center in Minneapolis. The event marks the first time that a non-WWE pay-per-view wrestling event has been held in the city in over twenty-five years. It is also the first time that the Target Center has hosted a major wrestling event since WWE TLC: Tables Ladders and Chairs, back in 2019.

The AEW Full Gear pay-per-view is headlined by an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page. The two former AEW World Tag Team Champions were once co-members of The Elite, the founding faction of AEW. However, after Omega and Page lost the tag titles, dissension bled into the ranks of the group, and Page was removed from the stable by the Young Bucks in August of last year.

Since then, Page has aligned himself with the Dark Order and has become one of the top babyfaces in the company. After a short hiatus from wrestling, Page returned to AEW on Oct. 6, winning the Casino Ladder Match, and gaining a shot at the AEW World Championship against Omega at Full Gear. It’s expected that Omega will finally put Page over, making him the fourth world champion in AEW history, and the first homegrown talent to earn the coveted strap.

The co-main event is a grudge match between former WWE World Champion CM Punk, as he takes on the Mad King Eddie Kingston. Punk and Kingston had a heated back and forth promo on AEW Rampage in early November. The promo was highly touted as one of the best AEW segments in recent memory. Both Punk and Kingston have a history that dates back to their days in Ring of Honor, which has been highlighted in the lead-up to this match.

Kingston has gained substantial notoriety since making his AEW debut back in July of 2020. His popularity has skyrocketed on the heels of his recent Player’s Tribune article entitled ‘Eddie Kingston: Got No F*cking Business Being Here.‘ The article has been given high praise by those in the wrestling industry, as Kingston gives a behind-the-curtain glimpse into the life of a modern-day indie wrestler, struggling to make ends meet.

The bout with Punk on Saturday will unquestionably be the biggest match of Kingston’s career and has a distinct possibility of stealing the show. Whether or not Punk reverts back to his heel persona during the match remains to be seen. However, it is certain the Minneapolis crowd will be eager to give Kingston a superstar’s welcome.
