The projected CFB rankings got simplified after the Baylor Bears upset the Oklahoma Sooners to put an end to their undefeated run.

The Oklahoma Sooners were in a fascinating position in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Despite being undefeated, they ranked below one-loss teams, coming into their game against Baylor ranked No. 8 because of a weak early schedule.

A win over the Bears would have given them their first real boost in the rankings. Instead, the game proved exactly why the committee was so skeptical of the Sooners.

Baylor upset Oklahoma 27-14 and delivered a major blow to their playoff hopes.

Meanwhile, Michigan held onto CFP rankings favor by surviving a test from Penn State, 21-17.

Projected CFP rankings after Oklahoma

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Oregon
  4. Ohio State
  5. Michigan
  6. Cincinnati
  7. Michigan State
  8. Notre Dame
  9. Oklahoma State
  10. Oklahoma

Oklahoma will inevitably drop now that they’re being judged against other one-loss squads. Oklahoma State has better wins on their resume, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Cowboys and Notre Dame move ahead.

Michigan’s win over Penn State will give the committee a reason to love them even more. Cincinnati should brace for the Wolverines to leapfrog them.
