College football media drags Texas football after getting upset by Kansas
Texas football reached a new low on Saturday with an overtime loss to Kansas, a huge underdog. College football media roasted the Longhorns.
Coming off of four straight losses, Texas football and first-year head coach Steve Sarkisian seemingly got a break from the schedule gods as they welcomed the Kansas Jayhawks to Austin, a team that had never beaten the Longhorns at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.
That changed on Saturday night.
Texas got themselves into a massive early hole, trailing 35-14 at halftime and 42-21 at one point in the second half. They climbed and clawed out of that deficit and, with a last-minute touchdown, forced overtime. After scoring in the extra period, though, they couldn’t stop Kansas. And the Jayhawks went for it all, going for two points and converting to get the win.
And as you’d expect, the reactions to the shocking loss were none too kind to Texas football.
Texas football gets roasted by college football media after upset loss to Kansas
All of this criticism is wholly justified for Texas football.
This team has the talent on the roster to hang with the majority of the teams in the country. But now, they just loss to a Kansas team that is the butt of the joke in the Big 12 every single year. On top of that, this is the fifth straight defeat for the Longhorns.
This is going to be a sour taste that’s hard for Steve Sarkisian to wash out of the mouths of fans in Austin.
