Aaron Jones suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday in the Packers’ matchup against the Seahawks. What is the recovery time from that injury in the NFL?

In a bit of an ugly game against the Seahawks, the Green Bay Packers, who have been riddled with injuries this season, saw another crucial component to the offense go down as running back Aaron Jones left the game early.

The veteran runner who signed a new contract this offseason limped to the medical tent and was in tears according to reports.

In the aftermath, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Jones had suffered a sprained MCL:

As noted by Schefter, the Packers will do further testing on the knee to determine the severity of the MCL sprain for Jones. What those tests reveal will tell us a lot about the recovery time.

If it’s only a Grade I sprain, then Jones could be back in a few days or a little more than a week. A Grade II sprain would keep him out for 2-4 weeks. A Grade III sprain would sideline the running back for 4-8 weeks with the longest recovery.

Thus, it could be anywhere from a few days to two months for Aaron Jones with this injury.

Packers RB depth chart after Aaron Jones injury

The immediate backup to Jones is obviously AJ Dillon, who has seen carries many times even when Jones has been on the field.

Behind Dillon would normally be rookie Kylin Hill, but he’s another Packer who has suffered an injury this season. That leaves Patrick Taylor Jr. as the next in line on the running back depth chart for the Packers
