Jimbo Fisher makes strongest denial he’s leaving for LSU yet
By John Buhler
Jimbo Fisher had a quote for the ages in an attempt to dispel any notion he would leave Texas A&M for the LSU head-coaching vacancy at the end of the season.
Jimbo Fisher may be happy at Texas A&M, but the rumors of him taking the LSU job aren’t stopping.
Fisher was Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator at LSU, but that was well over a decade ago. He has since gone on to be a national championship-winning head coach at Florida State and has the Texas A&M program as strong as it has been in decades. With the Aggies being bitter SEC West rivals with the Bayou Bengals, Fisher’s latest quote about LSU has everyone in stitches.
If Fisher does leave College Station for Baton Rouge, Aggie fans will dub him “the dumbest human being on God’s earth.”
Jimbo Fisher vehemently denies he will leave Texas A&M to go coach LSU
It is not just Fisher having previously worked for LSU as a reason he’d call Baton Rouge. The same athletic director who hired him away from Florida State is now back at LSU in Scott Woodward. He has a reputation of doing whatever it takes to get his top target to be his school’s next head coach. From Fisher and Buzz Williams at Texas A&M, to Kim Mulkey at LSU, Woodward will get it done.
Upon further dissecting Fisher’s incredible quote, he has a point. Why would he recruit so many four and five-stars to College Station knowing he’d have to beat them annually in divisional play at LSU? Fisher did take his foot off the gas in recruitment at Florida State before he took the Texas A&M gig. He may be LSU’s top candidate, but him leaving Texas A&M for them may not happen.
