David Pollack could not believe that the College Football Playoff committee ranked Michigan over Michigan State again.
It is Tuesday night, which means everyone in the college football world is going to get angry after watching the College Football Playoff committee’s reveal of their latest rankings. Last week, the greatest controversy was the fact that they ranked Michigan (No. 6) over Michigan State (No. 7) despite the Spartans defeating the Wolverines.
Sure enough, the rankings remained the exact same following the reveal this Tuesday. ESPN’s David Pollack had the reaction of many after hearing the Wolverines were ranked ahead of the Spartans for the second-consecutive week.

CFP committee ranks Wolverines over Spartans yet again
Of course, with every reveal, college football fans can hear the reasoning for the selections by CFP committee chair Gary Banta. As for why Banta ranked the Wolverines so high is because if you “set aside watching the games,” they rank better in every offensive and defensive statistical category than the Spartans.
Gary Barta: "Set aside watching the games, though that’s certainly a part of it. But statistically in just about every category, offensively and defensively, Michigan comes out on top over Michigan State."

OK then.
That is quite the answer from Barta, who probably didn’t sell the skeptics on the committee’s reasoning. Just last week, Barta essentially gave the exact same reasoning.
Michigan held onto their spot this week after they pulled off a narrow 21-17 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions. Meanwhile, Michigan State handedly defeated the Maryland Terrapins 40-21.
For Michigan State, they have the opportunity to give the committee no choice but to put them in the Playoff. That can happen if they win out the rest of the season. That goal begins this weekend, where they head to Columbus this weekend to take on Ohio State.
