Collin Sexton is out for the year after season-ending surgery

The Cleveland Cavaliers will reportedly be without Collin Sexton for the remainder of the year as he had a season-ending surgery.

Well, the Cleveland Cavaliers probably aren’t thrilled with the injury news they recently received. Collin Sexton, who has been working on recovering after tearing the meniscus in his knee, will apparently miss the remainder of the season.

Sexton just had season-ending surgery, according to a tweet from ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

This sort of timing is devastating for the Cavaliers and Sexton’s teammates, but it’s also horrible for Sexton himself. In addition to the injury itself being bad and the surgery taking a physical toll on him, this injury will almost certainly be brought up in Sexton’s future contract negotiations.

Coming into the year, Sexton was fresh off of a stellar campaign during the 2020-2021 season. During that season, Sexton averaged a career-high 24.3 points.

He’s been an ascending, young star for Cleveland, but now he’s going to be recovering from a tough surgery. At just 22-years-old, Sexton should have plenty of career left in front of him, but it’s always tough to see stuff like this happen.
