Arch Manning starred in a Louisiana high school playoff game with Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin there to take it all in.
Ole Miss football legacy Arch Manning put on a show in front of Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin in a Louisiana high school playoff game on Friday.
Manning quarterbacked Isidore Newman to a dominating 37-6 victory over Episcopal in the Division III quarterfinals. He had two passing touchdowns and an additional trip to pay dirt on the ground for the Greenies. Isidore Newman will take on defending Louisiana state champion Lafayette Christian in the semifinals. Ole Miss is one of five teams Manning could commit to.
Besides Ole Miss, Manning is looking very hard at Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Texas.
Arch Manning: 5-star QB dominates playoff game with Lane Kiffin present
Though the other four programs in contention for Manning’s high-profile commitment are a bit more prestigious than Ole Miss, his family has deep roots in Oxford. His grandfather Archie and his uncle Eli have their numbers retired at Vaught-Hemingway. His father Cooper graduated from the University of Mississippi as well. While there is no favorite right now, Ole Miss is a real contender.
Given that Clemson and Texas have had challenging seasons, it is allowing programs like Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss to gain ground in Manning’s recruitment. Kiffin may have spurned his uncle Peyton’s alma mater after one season, but he is the offensive coach who can bring a third generation of Manning quarterbacks to Oxford. The Rebels are certainly making a big run for him.
The longer Manning’s recruitment stays open, the more likely he will end up going to Ole Miss.
