Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor gave props to Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen for his big game against Nebraska on Saturday.

Saturday was a day that Wisconsin Badgers fans were looking forward to, and Nebraska Cornhuskers fans were likely dreading. Yes, it was the annual game between the Big Ten West division rivals, with Wisconsin holding a seven-game, head-to-head winning streak. That streak extended to eight games, thanks in part to the performance of Badgers running back Braelon Allen.

The freshman running back ran for 228 yards and three touchdowns to help Wisconsin win 35-28. This showing by Allen caught the attention of former Badgers running back and Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor.

Braelon Allen’s huge game leads Wisconsin to win over Nebraska

Of course, Taylor is no stranger to running all over Nebraska’s defense. Here are the stats he put up against the Cornhuskers in his three years with the Badgers:

  • 2017: 25 carries, 249 yards, two touchdowns
  • 2018: 24 carries, 221 yards, three touchdowns
  • 2019: 25 carries, 204 yards, two touchdowns.

Allen’s three touchdowns were nice and all, but the implications made them even more special. All three scores helped the Badgers retake the lead over the Cornhuskers.

The first arrived in the first quarter, where Allen burst up the middle of the line of scrimmage and ran 71-yards to reach the end zone and give Wisconsin a 14-7 lead. Then, there was the three-yard score in the third quarter to help the Badgers retake a 28-21 lead. But then, there was the 53-yard rushing touchdown with less than four minutes remaining to give Wisconsin the 35-28 win.

With this 228 yard performance in the books, the freshman has now accumulated 1,062 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 140 carries.

Allen will look to follow up this performance next week when Wisconsin takes on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. As for Taylor, he is getting ready for a huge game against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
