No, Tim Tebow is not a candidate to replace former Florida football head coach Dan Mullen.

While Tim Tebow was everything and then some for the Florida football program, he is not a serious candidate to replace former head coach Dan Mullen down in Gainesville.

There is just so much bargaining going around at Florida that some legions of the fanbase think this is a possibility.

Well, it is not. Tebow may be able to recruit at a very high level and he may be an excellent offensive mind for all we know. Unfortunately, he has spent zero time coaching football since leaving Florida. He has played in the NFL, suited up in the broadcast booth, and played baseball.

The other thing to know is he is not going to replace his former offensive coordinator at Florida after Mullen was terminated by the university days before Thanksgiving.

Florida coaching candidates: Tim Tebow is not going to replace Dan Mullen

Florida is more likely to let interim head coach Greg Knox get the gig full time than let Tebow be the head coach. The Gators would bring back Urban Meyer over him. Heck, they would even let the Head Ball Coach himself Steve Spurrier coach this team in his 70s than let Tebow lead the Gators right now. However, Tebow could play a big part in helping them find the right head coach.

The biggest attribute Florida should be looking for in Mullen’s long-term replacement is a guy with a passion for recruitment. If a team has more good players than the one it is going up against, schematics are not that important. Florida is a talent-rich state. It is not like the two other Power Five schools in the state are exactly crushing it these days either in Florida State and Miami.

Tebow is Florida football royalty, but that does not mean 2022 is the year of his coronation to be the next Gators head coach.
