LSU football message boards convinced Lincoln Riley is leaving Oklahoma for Tigers

LSU football is looking for a new head coach and a wild message board ‘report’ has Lincoln Riley leaving Oklahoma to take over from Ed Orgeron.

With one game left in the regular season against rival Texas A&M, LSU football is preparing to close the book on Ed Orgeron as their head coach and, as such, the coaching carousel is whirling around in Baton Rouge.

There are numerous big names that have been connected to the Tigers job, not limited to Jimbo Fisher at A&M, James Franklin at Penn State, and several others. However, an LSU message board “report” might take the cake in terms of the program replacing Orgeron.

One message board poster — whose source is a former Oklahoma quarterback who now “works in the oil and gas industry” and has connections with the program — says that Lincoln Riley will be the head coach of LSU football and the move will be announced after the Sooners lose to Oklahoma State in Bedlam on Saturday.

LSU football probably isn’t hiring Lincoln Riley

Let’s just say this person’s crystal ball might need a bit of polishing.

Over the past for years, Lincoln Riley has been connected to numerous NFL jobs but nothing has remotely materialized as the hand-picked successor to Bob Stoops in Norman has remained content at Oklahoma.

So it’s highly (extremely so) unlikely that Riley would leave the program for another college program, particularly one that is soon to be a fellow SEC member when the Sooners officially depart the Big 12 in a few years.

This feels like more of a pipe dream than anything, as is often the case on message boards. But as we’re in flight-tracking season and the other craziness of coaching searches, this one certainly stands out.
