5 bold predictions for Broncos against Chargers
By Scott Rogust
The Denver Broncos look to pick up a huge win over the rival Los Angeles Chargers in their return from the bye week.
The Denver Broncos are back from their bye week, where they last took the football field in a 30-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only that, but they witnessed the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs retake the AFC West in that time. Now, they look to get back in the win column this Sunday.
This week, the Broncos take on a division rival for the first time this season — the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are coming off a huge 41-37 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Can Denver catch Los Angeles off guard and pull out the victory?
Here are five bold predictions for the Broncos against the Chargers.
5. Broncos run attack destroys Chargers’ pedestrian rush defense
If Vic Fangio wants to defeat the Chargers, he will have to attack Los Angeles’ biggest weakness. Of course, we are talking about the Chargers’ pedestrian rush defense.
Yes, the Chargers did limit the Steelers offense to just 55 rushing yards on 18 carries this past weekend. But, Los Angeles has been notoriously terrible at stopping the opposition’s running game. The Chargers gave up an average of 145.1 rushing yards per game, which is the most in the entire NFL.
That is great news for both Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. Denver’s running backs have picked up an average of 111.5 yards per game this season, and they should be able to eclipse that on Sunday. 150 rushing yards by Denver is attainable.
