Georgia football fans have to have loved what they saw out of the Alabama football team in the Iron Bowl that went to four overtimes.

Though Alabama still has a shot at getting into the College Football Playoff, the Crimson Tide proved they are no match for Georgia in the 2021 SEC Championship game.

There are 12 games of evidence on either side that more than suggest this. Georgia is 12-0, the undisputed No. 1 team in the country and has held all 12 of its opponents to fewer than 17 points scored in a game. Alabama is 11-1 but needed four overtimes to beat its arch rival on the road when they were starting a backup quarterback. Auburn is a 6-6 team after a terrible November.

While Nick Saban has Georgia’s number, it would take a coaching catastrophe from one Kirby Smart for the Dawgs to not earn the No. 1 seed in the 2022 College Football Playoff as SEC Champions.

Georgia should not be that worried about Alabama after Iron Bowl performance

Though Auburn has many excellent players on both sides of the field, this is the first year of a brief rebuilding process under Bryan Harsin down on The Plains. The Tigers had no problems generating a pass rush with their defensive front. Now, think about what Jordan Davis and the boys could do to this overwhelmed Alabama offensive line come Saturday. Bryce Young has to play the savior.

While the threat of him finding Jameson Williams down the field is something Georgia must address, name a player or two on Auburn’s defense who would start for the Dawgs. Not only that, but Georgia is well-coached and will not go out of bounds with the game on the line and 40 seconds of extra clock to chew up. Alabama played down to Auburn’s level, but Georgia is a beast.

Ultimately, Georgia feels like a team of destiny. The Dawgs have given off similar vibes to that of the 2019 LSU Tigers and last year’s Alabama team. It has presented itself barring something catastrophic this team will go undefeated en route to a national title. Of course, this is Georgia sports, where anything bad can happen. However, the Atlanta Braves did win the World Series.

Alabama’s best chance to beat Georgia is for Saban to completely embarrass Smart schematically.
